Day 1 Activity 1 1/10/11 Periodic Table

First day of class, and I just created this sweet blog!

Activity1. Periodic Table

1. What do the #'s represent?
 -Upper Left #?
-Upper Right #?

2. What do the symbols represent? For example Mg?

3. What is the difference between Na and K?

  1. 1. The numbers that represent the element in the element box are the atomic number (Left) and atomic weight (Right). Atomic number is shown on the periodic table represents the number of protons. Atomic weight is how much the element mass.

    2. Symbols. Mg stands for Magnesium on the periodic table. The symbols were established on the periodic based on the English language and are very controversial. Also, this helps make learning the periodic table easier and faster when identifying Elements.

    3. The element Na is Sodium and has an atomic number of protons is 11. Na is in the third row. Sodium is also, an Alkali metal. K stands for potassium and is in the second row. Potassium has an atomic number of 19 protons. Potassium is also an Alkali metal. Both of these elements are located in the same area of the periodic table classifying both of them as metallic elements. Potassium is below Sodium on the table because it has more protons and has more mass.
