Day 6 Activity 5 1/19/11 PH Scale

 Ph 3 compared to PH4
1. Which is more Acidic?
2. By how many times?

pH notes:
pH= measure of each + concentration on a scale of 0 to 14.
pH of 7 = Normal no acid, no base
0 to 7= Acids more Hydroxide +
7 to 14= Bases more OH -
p= is mathematical function and coresponds to a log of something
pH= -log (H^+)

1 comment:

  1. 1. Ph3 is more acidic than Ph4 on the Ph scale because, 3 is closer to zero on the range of 0-7 for acids.

    2. Ph3 has a log of 48, and Ph4 has a log of 60, therefore Ph3 is around 12times more acidic than Ph4.
    Calculations:
    log 10 (48) = 3
    log 10 (60) = 4
