Day 4 Activity 3 1/13/11 What is Soap?

1. Show a chemical structure for soap.
The chemical structure for soap is Na[C17H35CO2].

2. What is unique about the polarity(charge characteristics) of soap?
 Soap is unique because on one end of the bar of soap there is a negative charge, but on the other end there is no charge at all.

3. How does soap work?
Soap works by using  by mixing water and soap. Then the mycells are formed when mixing the water and soap. The mycells are dispersed in between the oils (stains on the shirt) and by rubbing cloth the mycells take away the stain with a little bit of elbow grease!
